ITINERARY

Day 1: flight to Prague, transfer to the hotel. The evening is yours to relax. What about trying the famous Czech beer? You will not regret.

Day 2: a one day tour of the most important sights in Prague with a professional guide

Our tour starts at Wenceslas square that was built by King Charles IV in 1348 at the time he also founded the New Town. Nowadays, the dominant building in the square is the National Museum and the statue of the Czech patron saint St Wenceslas built in 1912. Wenceslas Square is also linked with the most important historical eras, such as the revolutionary upheavals in 1848, the founding of the new Czechoslovak Republic in 1918 and the fall of communism that was announced here in 1989.

The next stop is Little Quarter (or Lesser Town) that is one of Prague′s most historic boroughs. Nowadays it is a mixture of historic buildings, restaurants and shops. But it still has a strong appeal, especially the square where St. Nicholas Church stands.

You can also enjoy the panoramatic view of Prague Castle whose numerous spires, towers and palaces dominate the city centre like in a fairy tale. According to the Guinness World Records, it’s the largest ancient castle in the world: 570 m long,  128 m wide on average and covering the total area of more than seven football pitches. Walk through its courtyards and listen to the stories of its history. After walking through the castle you can see its most iconic part - St. Vitus Cathedral. This Gothic cathedral was founded in 1344 and its construction took nearly 600 years. Its impressive interior is home to many wonders, such as the beautifully decorated St. Wenceslas Chapel with the tomb of St. Wenceslas, the crypt where Czech kings are buried, and the Crown Chamber where the Crown Jewels are kept.

There is some time for a lunch in a restaurant, too. After the lunch the bus will take you to a small city island surrounded by the rivers Vltava and Čertovka. This picturesque part of the Little Quarter is called Kampa and it used to be a farmland. From here you will walk over the Charles Bridge, the oldest bridge in Prague, built between 1357 and 1402. King Charles IV replaced the old Judith Bridge that had been strongly damaged by flood. This new bridge, originally called the Stone or Prague Bridge, was the only way to cross the river Vltava until 1941.

Our walking tour continues to the Old Town and the Jewish Town. Both boroughs have a rich history that you can feel in their streets and lanes. Just listen to your guide and imagine how it was to live here a few hundred years ago. Then you will come to Old Town Square that is the oldest and maybe the most significant square in Prague. It has been Prague′s principal public square since 10th century and it still is the place where concerts, markets, political meetings and many other events are held. Here you can admire the Old Town Hall with the unique Astronomical Clock. Come here at the top of every hour and you will see a "show" that takes only 45 seconds but it is truly the pride and fame of the Old Town. Take some time and observe, there are many hidden meanings in the intriguing symbolism of the clock.

optional: a two hour guided cruise on the river Vltava with a buffet

Day 3: individual program in Prague; we recommend visiting the Prague ZOO which is the fifth best ZOO in the world (according to www.tripadvisor.com reviews based on the opinion of millions of its users) or planning your own trip through the sights you are interested in. Our delegate is here to help you.

Day 4: check-out and transfer to Český Krumlov with a stop at the Pilsner Urquell brewery with guided tour and tasting of the finest Czech beers and / or at the castle Hluboká nad Vltavou with a guided tour

Day 5: in the morning you will have a guided tour in Český Krumlov and in the afternoon you can enjoy this beautiful town on your own and in any way you want. During the tour the guide will show you the oldest part of the town which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The historic centre is situated at the meander bends of the river Vltava and Krumlov´s lovely castle is unusually large for a town like this. You can find there a very old Baroque court theatre built from 1680 to 1682.

Vienna, the capital of Austria, is known as the city on the blue Danube, but today the main river is actually detached from the inner city and only the Danube Channel runs through the city. Vienna is still one of Europe’s most seductive cities, however, and is worth a visit not just for its incomparable cultural treasures, the pomp and elegance of former glory, but also for its traditional coffee houses.

Esztergom is one of the oldest cities in Hungary. Approximately 150 years ago the cathedral was built within a period of 30 years. St Peter’s Cathedral in Rome was used as a model. At the inauguration, Franz Liszt conducted the “Graner Mass”. It is the largest and most beautiful cathedral in Hungary as well as the third largest cathedral in Europe.

BUDAPEST

15:00

Budapest once consisted of three parts: Buda, Obuda and Pest. Buda meaning “oven” was the historical upper city with the castle. The part Obuda meaning “old oven” was the part between the hill and the Danube. And Pest on the left-hand side was where most of the population lived. In 1872, these three parts were combined to form a real centre.
